Among the various cosmetic procedures that you may choose to undergo, Botox injections are among the more common. While these injections are extremely routine procedures, there is enough misinformation to cause patients to experience issues when they are attempting to decide to undergo these treatments.

Myth: Botox Will Make Wrinkles Worse

Some patients will simply assume that Botox will make their wrinkles far worse over the course of time. Yet, this is not the case as Botox patients can opt to undergo regular maintenance sessions to ensure that they continue to enjoy the types of results that they were expecting from this procedure.

Myth: Patients That Undergo Botox Will Lose Control Of Their Smile Or Eyebrows

A common side effect of Botox treatments will be a stiffness of the muscles in the eyebrows and around the mouth. This has led to the promulgation of the myth that patients will be completely unable to control these areas of the face following these treatments. However, the stiffness that accompanies these treatments is short lived. You may find that the stiffness in your face starts to fade within a day or two.

Myth: The Effects Of Botox Injections Will Last Forever

Prior to undergoing any cosmetic procedure, patients will often have concerns about whether they will decide that they do not actually like the effects of their treatments. For many cosmetic procedures, this can be a daunting decision as there may be no easy way to reverse the procedure. This can be particularly true of the face due to its prominence in your appearance as well as the complexity of alerting it. Yet, Botox injections will not experience this issue. Over the course of several weeks or months, the effects of the Botox injections will fade. If you decide that you enjoy the results, there are maintenance sessions that you can undergo.

Myth: Maintenance Treatments Are No Different Than Full Botox Treatments

One of the advantages of keeping to your Botox maintenance schedule is that you will be able to minimize the intensity of these sessions. During a full Botox injection session, large portions of the face will need to be treated in order to address the various wrinkles that will have formed. Maintenance sessions differ in that they will require far fewer injections. Rather than treating the entire area, the technician will only apply the Botox to the areas where there are visible signs of the Botox starting to fail.
